Here’s how finances work at Faircreek:

• We believe God owns everything and expects us to manage it for Him.   Our personal finances become a way that God uses us to accomplish His vision through the local church.   We accomplish more when we work together, so giving to the church allows us to have a larger impact for His plan.
• We have an annual budget based on our mission and vision.  We use what God provides through the people of the church to accomplish the things He has placed us here to do.  We keep a reserve for emergencies to be wise managers, but also spend wisely to make the most of the resources He has provided.
• We encourage everyone who is a part of the family at Faircreek to keep their personal finances in order.  We offer help in this area with training from the Bible.  Jesus had a lot to say about how we can be the best managers of what He gives us.

Frequently Asked Questions about Finances

Just as you excel in everything else—in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in complete earnestness . . . see that you also excel in this grace of giving.

2 Corinthians 8:7

Why does God want you to excel in the grace of giving?  It’s because He influences the world through His people.  God gives to you so He can give through you.   The Bible tells us in I Chronicles 29:14 that everything we have is a gift from God.   As you give faithfully, the world is changed for the glory of God.  The gospel is preached, lives are touched, people are fed, bodies are healed, churches are built.   You, in turn, are blessed by God so that you can give again.  If Faircreek is your home, then consider your participation in this opportunity to join with the family to accomplish the mission.

What does tithes and offerings mean?

The Bible says that the purpose of tithing (giving at least 10% of your earnings to the local church) is to teach you always to put God first in your lives.  It is meant to be an act of worship.   Tithing is a reminder that God is the supplier of everything we have.  It is also God’s personal invitation to an outpouring of His blessing in your life.

Isn’t 10 % enough? Well, that is between you and God how much you actually give.   You may need to make adjustments to your budget to give and you may even need to ease into it.  Tithing is a good starting point, and then offerings would be above and beyond.   Usually, offerings are focused on a special area of need to accomplish the mission.

Where does Faircreek get all its money?

At Faircreek, we collect regular offerings each week to meet the basic needs of the church.  At least four times a year, we collect offerings for the Caring Fund to help those who have need in our church family and in the local community.  In addition, we collect two special offerings a year in July and December for special ministry needs.   As you can see, there are many opportunities for you to be involved.

It’s the financial generosity of everyday people in our community that fuels the incredible life-change that we experience here.  Our support comes from the tithes and offerings of the people who call Faircreek home.

Does Faircreek have high accounting standards?

Yes.  You can request a copy of the annual report for any year and you will find that money given to Faircreek is managed with integrity.   Giving is a private matter and it is kept that way.  We do not measure a person’s worth or spirituality based on the amount of money given to the church.

How does the budgeting process work?

Each ministry, which consists of paid staff and volunteers, considers what their ministry goals and objectives are for the year.  Corresponding costs are then determined.   The church Finance Team reviews and may recommend changes based on the overall vision for the church.  The final step is approval by the Board of Elders.

Who sets salaries for the staff?

The overall salary structure (and specifically, the salary of the Senior Pastor) is set by the Board of Elders.

What happens with yearly left-over money?

The leftover money is put back into the ministry budget fund for the following year.

Are my donations tax-deductible?

Faircreek Church is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, and all donations that we receive are tax-deductible.  However, you should consult your tax advisor to see if you can deduct your donations.   You will receive a receipt of your gift by mail.
